Introduction to Evaluation

Evaluation is a process of exploration of a subject and values on its special features. It is a broader term with reference to the assessment. Assessment involves gathering of data and information whereas the evaluation includes the methods to know what happens as a result of using definite practices and interventions. Evaluation takes place with in the situations of organization and political so it needs management skills and group abilities. Evaluation is the organized assessment of advantages and value of some subject. It generally uses the gathered and assessed information.  For example; Robert joins cricket team and in the first few days he gathered information and later on evaluate methods to survive in the team.

Goals of Evaluation

The most important goal related to evaluation is to make available useful feedback to the number of audience together with staff, client groups, administers, contributors and contractors etc. The evaluation is taken as useful, if it is taking part in the decision making. The relationship between the evaluation and its impact is much strong because sometimes critical evaluation fails to accomplish in short term and vice versa. In spite of that the foremost goal linked with evaluation is the feedback that is influenced from decision making.

Strategies of Evaluation

Strategies of evaluation mean that to have evaluation prospective in broader point of view. Evaluation strategies are discussed in four major groups, namely;

• Scientific experimental model

• Management oriented system models

• Qualitative model

• Participant oriented model

Scientific Experimental Model

It is the first category of evaluation strategies and is the most leading method for evaluation. Such models are retrieved from the sciences, most probably the social sciences. Scientific experimental model includes designs of quasi experiments, objective based education research and perspectives about economy etc.

Management Oriented System Model

[large]Management oriented system model are used by the business and the government in state. It is known to be the second model in evaluation strategy which involves two main techniques i.e. program evaluation and review techniques (PERT) and critical path method (CPM).

Qualitative model

This evaluation strategy put emphasis on the significance of observation, worth about the human interpretation and the quality about the evaluation framework.  It is also known as fourth generation evaluation.

Participant Evaluated Model

Participant evaluated method gives more emphasis at the significance for the participants like users of the equipment or a program and customers. Stakeholder’s approaches are also known as customer oriented evaluation system.

Types of Evaluation

There are different types of evaluation depending upon the purpose of the subject to be evaluated,but the most leading types of evaluation which are far distinct from each other are;[linkunit]

• Process evaluation

• Outcome evaluation

Process Evaluation

Process evaluation is such type of evaluation which involves the accomplishment of the work and the number of people who are served.

Outcome Evaluation

This evaluation deals with the changes that are made in the gathered information and to define various changes that are made in result of alteration made in evaluation.
