When a data is collected from a source, it is impractical to keep in mid all values that may be present in a set of data. Therefore a single value which may be considered typical of the set of data should be taken. Central tendency is that single value of the data which truly represents the whole data. In statistical terminology “Average” means “Central Tendency” of the data. All those measures which are used to compute the central tendency of any data are called measures of central tendency. These measures are given below.
