The project coordinator is a role which project manager has to play in weak matrix or functional organization. In both type of organization, the functional manager has more power therefore, project manager plays limited role of project expeditor or project coordinator.
The role of project coordinator is similar to project expeditor the only difference is that he or she has limited power to make decisions and also reports to higher management.
